LOVE INC. is located in Eatontown. and serves the disadvantaged of Monmouth County. It was begun in 1984 when Carolyn Eyerman, the director, became overwhelmed with the amount of toys her children were accumulating. Working through the Department of Youth and Family Services, she and a friend purchased gifts for those who would have gone without during the holiday season.
By 1994 she had a program named :”Connect” and had expanded this outreach to include 32 churches.
Later the group joined Love Inc (love in the name of Christ) a national cooperative effort between churches and service agencies to provide effective help for the disadvantaged.
Love Inc. is able to screen and validate the needs of the callers who appeal to various churches for assistance, alleviating confusion and streamlining opportunities. After completing the screening process, Love Inc. was able to refer callers to the appropriate government agency or enable churches to be the Good Samaritan by using available recourses wisely and legitimately. This allows the church and the community resources to be used collectively in meeting the needs of the poor.
In addition to this program, Love Inc. has grown to be a mentoring, goal setting and spiritual and emotional support by offering programs which include budget counseling, life skills training and computer instruction classes.
Other programs are Wheels Appeal- a car donation program which gives safe, reliable vehicles to help restart the lives of needy and responsible Monmouth County residents, Furnished with Love, a used furniture store located in Long Branch caters to the poor and needy, offering an assortment of good quality used furniture at reasonable prices or donates furniture to those in need.
